IRC Instructions Installing the Poprocksurge.exe
01. Double Click on the Poprocksurge.exe
02. Destination folder C:/ (* This Must Be Installed Directly To C: as shown below)
03. Press Install
04. Find your new Poprocksurge folder u just installed on your C: drive Double Click mirc32.exe
05. In The mIRC Options box
You need to Fill In your Full Name: Email Address: (Example: YourNick@fictitiousEmail) (*Note this doesn't have to be your real email) Nickname: Alternate:
Press OK when you're done
06. Then Press connect which is the lightning bolt at the top left And you will automatically join Poprocksurge
07. Now you need to Load your SPR Jukebox to setup a list. Once you're in the Poprocksurge room right click on the left side of the room where everyone is chatting (as below)
08. Click on: spr jukebox >>> share my files
09. A Script Warning box appears
Press Yes to Run the initialization commands
10. Then Another Script Warning box appears
Press Yes Again to Run the initialization commands
11. A SPR Load process box appears
Press NO
12. A SpR Setup Options Box appears (*Note Don't Press OK at the bottom of this box until you complete steps 12.- 22.)
13. Under General Under Channel Setup: Type this exactly: #Poprocksurge Press Add at the right of the channel setup box (* #Popsurgerock will then go into the lower box when you press Add)
14. Also under General Directory Setup Press ADD at right of this box
15. A Browse for Folder box appears Pick one of file dirs:
16. Now choose a folder on your PC that has multimedia you wish to share here Highlight it and Press OK
*You can do this for each folder you want to share just press ADD again next to Directory Setup browse, highlight a different folder and press OK
*If the List Options box appears (*this lets you make & update your list) You can move it to the bottom of your screen until you're ready for it in step 24. simply left click on the top of the box and drag it to the bottom of your screen
17. Also under General, make sure you only have a Check Mark next to Main channel only mode (otherwise, multi-channel mode) on mute
*Nothing else needs to be checked *So Uncheck Everything Else
IN THE END, YOUR WINDOW SHOULD LOOK LIKE THIS :
18. Next go to MultiMedia which is the next to General in SpR Setup Options
19. Type the following under Input:
m2v then Press ADD mpeg then Press ADD vob then Press ADD avi then Press ADD wma then Press ADD wmv then Press ADD MOV then Press ADD zip then Press ADD rar then Press ADD
(*These file types will then go into the lower box when you press Add)
It should look like that :
20. Under DCC Server Tab also in SpR Setup Options Uncheck Minimum Cps check 300 bps + -
21. * IMPORTANT * EVERY TIME YOU RECONNECT YOU MUST UNCHECK Send auto resume on get fail IT Is very Annoying and will get u KICKED
22. Press OK at the bottom of the SpR Setup Options Box
23. Now In List Options box Next to Default nick for !nick trigger: it should already have your nick listed but you can change it to say anything you want
24. Method choose either Specify dirs
25. Press OK at the bottom of List Options
26. SPR Listmake box: You can send your list in zipped-form instead of sending it as plain text file. By sending the list in zipped form, you will save yourself bandwidth, especially if you have a big list.
Do you want to send your list in zipped form?
Press Yes or no it doesn’t matter
27. You will still have a spr.dbsp.stats box open, just press the X at the top right corner to close it and you can do the same with your generated list
28. When you're all setup you need to register your nick but first you must make a password and write it down so you remember it (*Don't Include the word Type in front of the / mark)
Type this in the room:
Type /ns register YOURPASSWORD YourRealEmail
For instance, if you choose “blah” and your email is user@hotmail.com then u need to type : /ns register blah user@hotmail.com
Now go check your emails for a confirmation email (they’ll ask you to type in something in the channel)
Once you have done this tell an Op so they can add you to the poprocksurge autovoice
29. Now go up to mIRC Options it has a hammer next to a folder
Connect Perform
In the Perform commands box type these lines in exact order (*Don't Include the word Type infront of the / mark)
Type /ns identify YOURPASSWORD Type /join #poprocksurge Type /cs Voice #poprocksurge YOURNICK
Press OK
In this example your password is “blah” and your nick is “yournick”
30. now to download u have two options, you can type in the main room @examplenick Substitute ExampleNick with a nick at right Nick list Make sure you have @ in front of the nick
31. File Warning Box Appears *VIP* Uncheck Always show this warning Press OK
Then the list will automatically download
32. Now go to your download folder in your Poprocksurge folder on your C: drive double click on the list and look thru it when you find a file you want to request simply take your mouse cursor and start at the ! mark and drag to the end of the file Example:
!Amy Madonna - blahblah.mp3
Next while it is highlighted right click and choose copy Then at the bottom where you type in the room right click and paste the file and press enter You will either get the file right away or enter a que
33. To check what # you are in que type this: @ExampleNick-que
To Check stats type: @ExampleNick-stats
To Remove your request type: @ExampleNick-remove
To Look for a file you want type: @find and the file name
RANDOM HELP
34. If you want to add a new folder to share
Go to Commands at the top Jukebox Setup General Under Directory Setup Press ADD And browse your PC for the new folder you want to share In the Browse For Folder box Highlight it and press OK
35. Then you need to Update Your List (Which Should Be Done At Least Once A Week) (When You Get New Files It Needs To Be Updated Right Away)
Go to Commands at the top Jukebox List Update Press Update in the List Options box
36. Voicing & Devoicing yourself (*Don't Include the word Type infront of the / mark)
1. Type the following:
Type /msg NickServ IDENTIFY YourPassword
Type /cs voice #poprocksurge YOURNICK
Type /cs devoice #poprocksurge YOURNICK
37. How to make an Alias to voice & devoice Go to the Green /a under Tools In Aliases under what is already typed there (Don't Delete Anything Here) Type the following commands substituting Yournick with what you had chosen as your nick when you registered (*Don't Include the word Type infront of the / mark)
Type /voiceYOURNICK cs voice #poprocksurge YOURNICK
Type /devoiceYOURNICK cs devoice #poprocksurge YOURNICK
Press OK at the bottom
Then when you need to voice or devoice yourself all you have to do is (*Don't Include the word Type in front of the / mark)
Type /voice YOURNICK
Type /devoice YOURNICK
38. You should devoice yourself if your list doesn't work or you cannot share for any other reason
39. When you make new nicks for yourself, you must register them under your original password and email, and group them. (*Don't Include the word Type infront of the / mark) *First Type:
Type /msg NickServ IDENTIFY YourPassword
Then Type The Following Commands:
Type /ns register YourPassword YourEmail
Type /ns group YourOriginalNick YourPassword
40. If you want to Drop one of your nicks, First change it to the nick you don't want to use anymore (*Don't Include the word Type infront of the / mark) *Remember to first type:
Type /msg NickServ IDENTIFY YourPassword
Then Type:
Type /ns drop YourNickThatyouwanttoDrop YourPassword
41. Now if someone steals your registered & protected nick you can ghost them, kick em in other words, (*Don't Include the word Type in front of the / mark) *Fist Type:
Type /msg NickServ IDENTIFY YourPassword
Then Type:
Type /ns ghost YourNickThatSomeoneStole YourPassword
42. *Note: A good idea everytime you enter Poprocksurge is to type the following to identify yourself: (*Don't Include the word Type infront of the / mark)
Type /msg NickServ IDENTIFY YourPassword
If there was a netsplit or the bots aren't in the room Try typing either of these commands: (*Don't Include the word Type infront of the / mark)
Type /ns identify yourpassword
Type /identify yourpassowrd
43. How To Register The MIRC Program
Go to Help at the top of the mirc program Click About mIRC and Register
Type the following
Company/Name: REPTILE (*In Caps)
Serial Number: 3482-267956
TROUBLESHOOTING
1. If your sends don't work: (*Don't Include the word Type infront of the / mark)
Type /localinfo –h Or /localinfo -u
2. If you are having problems with sending and receiving files do this
Go to: Options Connect Local Info And clear the top 2 boxes: Local Host & IP Address Press OK And Reconnect
3. If getting message in status window 'unable to resolve host.....'
Do the following steps
Options Connect Local Info Clear Local Host & IP Address Boxes at top On connect, always get: Check IP Address Lookup Method: Check Server Press Ok And Reconnect
4. If you have Windows XP firewall, and you are getting this message when others try to download from you:
(unable to connect) in red on your status window
you will need to turn off your windows XP firewall
Please Follow these steps:
Go To: Start Control Panel Connections or Network Connections Double Click on Connection Under General Click Properties Under Connection Properties Click Advanced Uncheck Internet Connection Firewall Then Press OK
